A brief but important update after a year without emails!
It hasn’t been a year without any emails, sadly and not through lack of trying - but it’s been almost a full year since my last newsletter, if you can believe it. I was tempted to wait until July to send this one so I could edit out that pesky “almost”… but Rachel has a new book coming out and she has so many friends and supporters here, I wanted to make sure I spread the word so you can help her celebrate!
The book is Death on the Lanai (get it?) and marks my improbable and tangential—but indisputable!—entrance into the Golden Girls universe via this very sweet dedication:
I recently recorded a bunch of fun unboxing videos with Rachel, with baby Courage on my hip and little Chaely nipping at my heels, and you can watch those on your platform of choice (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) in her most recent newsletter.

The print and ebook editions of Death on the Lanai publish on June 2nd, so there’s still time to get those all-important preorders in… and the audiobook is out now, thanks to the early buzz machine over at Disney and Audible (it’s getting raves in the review section, so if you’re an audiobook person, definitely check it out)!
Otherwise, this is what life’s looking like for me these days!
This picture was taken in Park Slope in Brooklyn, where Rachel and I spent a few weeks for Book Con—and before that we had a super-fun month in Savannah, where we caught the Savannah Book Festival and skipped the coldest parts of the winter. Other than that, I’m happily spending my days in Baby World™️ and working with Courage Literary!
I know some of you are wondering about my own books and I’m hoping I’ll have more to share about those soon. As goes the world, so goes publishing—so this hasn’t been the best time to be a banned children’s book author—but I have two finished kid’s books in the drawer and an adult debut that recently got an amazing blurb from a big, National Book Award-winning author… so watch this space!
