New Videos, New Shirts, New Book Stuff!
Hi, friends!
And hello to all my new friends—I don’t know what happened, but this newsletter has gotten a lot bigger since my last email… so: THANK YOU to everyone who’s forwarding these emails around and helping me spread the word :)
This has been a busy few weeks at Courage HQ!
Some highlights:
Last night was our first Halloween with a Little Free Library and we stocked it with 100% kids books — and ended up refilling it about three times between 5 and 7pm, when our neighborhood trick-or-treats! (If you’re new to this newsletter, here are some highlights from our Little Free Library… these kids are the best.)
My mom visited from New Orleans and she helped me make another baking video:
By popular request (!!!), I also drew up a t-shirt based on a screenshot from the Pumpkin-Shaped Pumpkin Bread video:
I also posted a new Snow Struck t-shirt on my TeePublic store!
I started this store because people kept telling me I should make t-shirts—but I honestly figured I’d be the only person wearing them. So far, though, proceeds from these shirts have helped me cover a lot of the costs for all the bookmark printing and classroom / school library mailings I’ve been doing. I’ve been writing so many letters to classrooms these past few weeks that I actually just had to place another order for a big batch of bookmarks… so thank you to everyone who’s picking up shirts and mugs and buttons and helping me mail out a bunch of free bookmarks and stickers to classrooms!
If you’re a teacher or librarian that’s new to this newsletter and you’d me to write a letter to your school or classroom (packed with a bunch of bookmarks!), you can just respond to this email or check out this page for more information :)
While I was drawing those t-shirts, I also doodled a little sneak preview of Snow Struck, which is still available to request on Netgalley… and I’m still mailing out pre-order goodies while supplies last!
It felt weird just making one for Snow Struck, so I made one for Storm Blown, too:
I said this when I posted this pic on Instagram, but it can take a long time for Middle Grade books to make their way into classrooms and lesson plans and summer reading lists… so even though this book has been out for a while, it’s been really cool to see that kids and teachers and school librarians are still discovering it and downloading the study guides and stuff.
If that’s you and you’re new to this newsletter, THANK YOU!
In case you missed it, I’m signing off from this newsletter (again) with my playlist of a lot of the songs I listened to while I was writing and revising Snow Struck . I thought I was done with these songs, but I played this for about three days straight after I sent my last email 😂
I hope everyone’s being safe and having fun out there!
Your fan,
